Meredith Drukker Stratigopoulos, an experienced trial lawyer, will continue her work representing victims of sexual assault

(April 24, 2024) – Chicago – National plaintiffs’ law firm, Edelson PC, is dipping into the Texas talent pool to hire an accomplished trial lawyer as its latest partner. Following a year of record growth in which the firm added seven new associates, two partners, and announced plans for a Los Angeles office, Meredith Drukker Stratigopoulos joins Edelson in its Mass Torts and Trial teams.

Stratigopoulos previously served as a partner at Watts Guerra LLP, a prominent mass tort and litigation law firm in San Antonio. There, Stratigopoulos founded the firm’s practice advocating for victims of sexual assault, as well as handling wrongful death and personal injury cases. An experienced trial attorney, Stratigopoulos has litigated dozens of matters through every phase of litigation.

At Edelson, her experience will help the firm expand its nationwide mass torts practice. Just last year, Edelson PC won a historic class action jury verdict in Oregon for survivors of the 2020 Labor Day fires against the Berkshire Hathaway-owned power company. Since then, the firm has already secured more than $220 million in jury awards for its clients in subsequent damages trials. Edelson actively represents individual and governmental clients in a variety of mass tort and environmental claims, including claims arising from ethylene oxide (EtO) emissions, per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs), and against gun manufacturers for their reckless marketing role in mass shootings.

“After a year of significant growth for our firm, we’re excited to further boost our team with a partner who has mass torts experience, trial expertise, and genuine commitment to what we’re all supposed to be doing in plaintiffs’ law—putting our clients first,” said Jay Edelson, the firm’s founder and CEO. “Speaking with Meredith over the last few months has made clear that she will run through walls for the people she represents, and that’s what this practice takes.”

In her prior work, Stratigopoulos participated in wildfire litigation against PG&E, litigated against opioid manufacturers and distributors in the nationwide MDL, and has been involved in a number of other pharmaceutical mass torts. Most recently, she was appointed to the Plaintiffs’ Steering Committee in In re: Uber Technologies, Passenger Sexual Assault Litigation, where she represents individuals who have been sexually assaulted by Uber drivers. She will continue that work at Edelson.

“I never hesitate to take the hard case, because so often, the injured people bringing them need the representation most,” says Stratigopoulos. “The opportunity to join Edelson PC, a firm who has taken on some of the biggest corporate bullies in the country and won, is a challenge I couldn’t be more excited to take on.”

Stratigopoulos grew up in the Hill Country of Texas in Boerne. She graduated cum laude from Texas Christian University with a degree in English and a minor in Political Science and received her J.D. from the University of Texas School of Law.
