The Oregonian (January 23,2024) – A Multnomah County jury on Tuesday slapped PacifiCorp with a $62 million verdict for its negligence in the 2020 wildfires, marking the latest financial hit to Oregon’s second-largest utility.
The verdict comes on the heels of a $90 million judgment against the company last summer for the same wildfires. Only a handful of fire victims have been awarded damages so far, with more trials set for this year and threatening to push PacifiCorp’s liabilities far higher. Read more here.
