Curriculum Vitae

HANNAH HILLIGOSS is an Associate at Edelson PC where her work focuses on consumer protection and privacy-related class actions. Hannah’s recent class action work includes representing thousands of consumers who lost money to online social casinos and online sweepstakes casinos; seeking relief for Vermonters harmed by exposure to toxic chemicals under Vermont’s novel medical monitoring statute—including by litigating issues of first impression in the Vermont Supreme Court; litigating against website providers sharing user video-viewing history without consent, and vindicating the rights of consumers under state right of publicity statutes. Hannah is also involved in the firm’s efforts to reform the plaintiffs’ bar, including by representing a pro bono client against a former Girardi | Keese attorney and by advocating for class-centered approaches to appointment of class counsel.

Hannah graduated cum laude from Harvard Law School, where she was a Student Editor on the American Journal of Law and Equality and was on the Public Interest Committee for the Women’s Law Association. Hannah also participated in the Cyberlaw Clinic, where she counseled an anti-disinformation e-newsletter on their response to a cease and desist letter alleging Lanham Act violations; drafted an amicus brief opposing national digital identity laws for a large NGO; and worked with a documentary filmmaker to determine what third-party footage in his film was fair use and what needed to be licensed.

Prior to law school, Hannah worked at Harvard’s Berkman Klein Center for Internet and Society, developing ethical approaches to AI development and deployment and combatting algorithmic discrimination in hiring and in the criminal justice system.
