Curriculum Vitae
LANDON WEBSTER is a Senior Staff Attorney at Edelson PC where his work focuses on consumer and privacy-related class actions and environmental mass torts. He has worked with survivors of the 2018 Northern California Camp Fire and is currently working on litigation surrounding 2020 Oregon wildfires, environmental pollution, and illegal internet gambling casinos.
In law school, Landon was part of the University of Illinois College of Law Veterans’ Legal Clinic where he worked to resolve a variety of legal concerns for U.S. military veterans, including family law and insurance matters. He also worked as a Research Assistant to Professor Robin Fretwell Wilson and interned for both the New York Office of the Attorney General and the Illinois House of Representatives Technical Review Unit. Additionally, Landon volunteered for the Illinois Innocence Project and numerous ‘Second Chance Saturday’ criminal record sealing and expungement clinics. He was a three-year member of the Student Bar Association, Vice President of the Public Interest Law Foundation and President of the Health and Elder Law Society.
- Obtained a jury award of $87+ million (including punitive damages) on behalf of 17 named plaintiffs who lost homes and property in the 2020 Oregon Labor Day fires. The verdict also established liability for four of those fires against the defendant utility PacifiCorp on behalf of a class of thousands of survivors. The case, stemming from one of the largest man-made disasters in Oregon history, was a first-of-its-kind wildfire class-action and is the first known instance of a jury verdict holding a utility accountable for a wildfire. - Obtained separate jury awards of $80+ million, and $40+ million (including punitive damages) on behalf of 19 additional James class members who lost homes and property in the 2020 Oregon Labor Day fires.
