Curriculum Vitae
PATRICK NTCHOBO is a Partner at Edelson PC. Patrick’s practice focuses on trial advocacy before judges, juries, and arbitrators nationwide in high-stakes cases—often of first impression—on behalf of victims of corporate wrongdoing and governmental entities. Patrick is a key member of the trial team, including as first chair, in a series of trials that have won more than $675 million in damages to date against an Oregon utility. Patrick has significant experience in all stages of the trial process, from taking and defending key depositions to selecting juries, presenting opening and closing statements, and presenting and cross-examining key witnesses. Through his pro bono appellate practice, he also represents immigrants facing deportation and people facing criminal prosecution.
Prior to joining Edelson PC, Patrick clerked for Judge Haywood S. Gilliam Jr. of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California and Judge Gabriel P. Sanchez of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. He began his career in Texas state politics, where he served as a legislative director and communications aide for multiple state representatives.
- Litigating on behalf of thousands of survivors of the 2020 Labor Day Fires in Oregon. Patrick played a crucial role in securing a first-of-its-kind jury verdict holding a utility, PacifiCorp, liable to an entire class of plaintiffs for causing the fires. That jury also awarded nearly $90 million in damages to the 17 class representatives and imposed punitive damages for the entire class—ultimately paving the way for what the utility argued was billions of dollars for the class. For their victory on these cases, Patrick and the trial team were named “Legal Lions” by Law360, were honored with CVN’s 2023 “Most Impressive Plaintiff’s Verdict” award, and received Law.com’s 2024 Trial Strategy Innovation Award. The case is now in the damages phase, where Patrick has first-chaired multiple consolidated damages trials and played a key role as part of a team that has secured more than $675 million in verdicts and judgments to date. James v. PacifiCorp, No. 20-cv-33885 (Mult. Cty., Or.).
- Represents hundreds of cancer survivors in litigation against ethylene oxide sterilizers and chemical producers around the country. Served as trial counsel in multiple bellwether trials against medical device sterilizers in Illinois and Colorado. Knobbe v. Isomedix Operations, Inc., No. 2022 L 008574 (Cir. Ct. Cook Cty., Ill.), Isaacks v. Terumo, No. 2022 CV 31124 (Dist. Ct. Jefferson Cty., Colo.).
- Represented the District of Columbia in a lawsuit against JUUL Labs, Inc. for marketing and selling addictive nicotine-based products to kids and teenagers.
