Curriculum Vitae

PETER DEMARCO is Senior Litigation Counsel at Edelson PC, where he is part of the Public Client group.

Prior to joining Edelson PC, Pete worked for seven years at the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) litigating environmental cases. At NRDC, Pete served as counsel in lawsuits related to pesticides, greenhouse gases, trash, discriminatory zoning, lead in drinking water, and highway expansion.

Before joining NRDC, Pete clerked for the Honorable Theodore Chuang on the United States District Court for the District of Maryland. He also worked as a staff attorney in the environmental law clinic at Georgetown University Law Center’s Institute for Public Representation.

  • NRDC v. EPA, 31 F. 4th 1203 (9th Cir. 2020): Lead counsel in suit to protect children from exposure to the pesticide tetrachlorvinphos.
  • NRDC v. Wheeler, 955 F.3d 68 (D.C. Cir. 2020): Lead counsel in suit challenging EPA’s rollback of restrictions on hydrofluorocarbons.
  • Pennsylvania Public Utility Comm’n v. Pittsburgh Water and Sewer Authority, Nos. R-2018-3002645, et al. (Pa. P.U.C. Feb. 27, 2019): Co-represented community organization advocating for removal of lead drinking water pipes in Pittsburgh.
  • NRDC v. EPA , 301 F.Supp. 3d 133 (D.D.C. 2018): lead counsel in suit challenging insufficiently stringent measures to clean up trash in the Anacostia River
