JALEXUS OSBORNE is a Staff Attorney at Edelson PC where her work primarily focuses on consumer protection, privacy, and complex environmental mass tort actions. Since joining the firm, Jalexus has assisted the litigation team in a variety of complex actions on behalf of state attorney generals, including over youth vaping, e-cigarettes, big-tech data breaches, misuses of consumer data, and environmental actions. Currently, Jalexus is supporting the trial practice group surrounding the 2020 Oregon wildfires.
During Law School, Jalexus was a student attorney in the Federal Civil Rights Clinic where she was provisionally admitted to practice law and represented, pro-bono, an incarcerated individual in a federal Section 1983 lawsuit in the U.S. Central District of Illinois. Jalexus also advocated for U.S. military veterans through the University of Illinois College of Law Veteran’s Clinic to resolve a variety of legal concerns including Breach of Contract, Family Law, and Estate Planning. Additionally, Jalexus was the Executive Administrative Editor for The Elder Law Journal and a competitor on the University of Illinois College of Law Trial Team. Jalexus also worked as a Research Assistant to Professor Jeremy McClane in the University of Illinois Small Business Study and interned for the Chicago Transit Authority Legal Department, Riley Safer Holmes and Cancila, and Prairie State Legal Services. Moreover, Jalexus was an Anderson Fellow, the President of the Black Law Student Association, on the Lecture Committee for the Women’s Law Society, and a Class Representative for Student Legal Relief. Her involvement led her to receive both the Rickert Award for Excellence in Advocacy and the Rickert Award for Excellence in Service. The Rickert Awards are the most prestigious awards conferred upon students at the University of Illinois College of Law.
